ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON has exercised its option to keep afternoon host HOWIE CARR on the station "for the foreseeable future," reports the BOSTON HERALD.
“HOWIE CARR is a BOSTON radio legend and I’m looking forward to having him continue to anchor afternoon drive,” said VP of Programming JASON WOLFE. “This is a great day for our listeners, affiliates and advertisers, and I’m excited that we’ve extended our relationship.”
CARR, who got entangled with ENTERCOM in a legal dispute several years ago in an attempt to get out of his contract and sign with crosstown GREATER MEDIA Talk WTKK, told the HERALD, where he works as a columnist, "I’m very disappointed. I was hoping I’d get parole. But there’s only two years left on my bit and I now know the exact day I’m leaving. I can do this standing on my head."
Responding to CARR's comment, WOLFE added, "Luckily for HOWIE, WRKO is more like DANBURY minimum security prison, and not like where WHITEY BULGER is currently residing. So I’m sure our extended time together will be very productive."
