ESSENTIAL PUBLIC MEDIA noncommercial WESA (formerly WDUQ)/PITTSBURGH has changed its slogan and lineup, dropping the "ESSENTIAL PUBLIC RADIO" branding in favor of "PITTSBURGH'S NPR NEWS STATION" and adding six new shows while dropping others, reports the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE.
Among the lineup changes, the weekday lineup adds a fifth hour of NPR's "MORNING EDITION" 9-10a (ET), replacing PRI's "THE TAKEAWAY," and "ON POINT" and "TELL ME MORE" get dropped in favor of NPR's DIANE REHM 10a-noon. A new FRIDAY evening lineup adds "THE DINNER PARTY," "LIVE WIRE!," and the podcast "WTF WITH MARC MARON." Weekend NPR shows "RADIOLAB" and "ONLY A GAME" join the WESA schedule, as do second airings of "CAR TALK" and "WAIR WAIT... DON'T TELL ME" on SUNDAY, and the FRIDAY edition of NPR's "FRESH AIR" is being replaced by "TOTN SCI FRI."
