Country artist EMMYLOU HARRIS has announced a new concert event to benefit her dog rescue organization, “BONAPARTE’s RETREAT”. The event, named “Woofstock,” will take place at NASHVILLE’s WOODS AT FONTANEL on SATURDAY, AUGUST 18th.
In addition to live music from various artists at “Woofstock,” there will also be food, drinks, pet pedicures and animal available for adoption. “We have partnered with METRO ANIMAL CONTROL, and we are great friends with NASHVILLE HUMANE, so there will be other rescues there. There will be dogs there that are available for adoption, and we are telling people to bring their own dogs, because we will have a dog beach with umbrellas, and lots of fun for the dogs," said EMMYLOU.
HARRIS intends for the proceeds to go towards expanding the size of BONAPARTE’s RETREAT, so that the organization can not only house more animals, but also create job opportunities for homeless citizens who would like to reenter society. Additionally, she would like to expand the program to include young adults who have aged out of the foster system. “We're partnering with NASHVILLE CHILDREN's SERVICES and want to offer some kind of residence, as well as the opportunity to work in animal rescue, and perhaps go on to work as a vet tech., but centered around animal grooming and rescue," said EMMYLOU.
