Phoenix -- Shaking Things Up
CCM+E Hot AC KMXP (MIX 96.9) slipped from a strong 6+ JUNE survey (5.5-5.1 share) but still holds the #1 crown. Also slipping slightly, but still grabbing the #2 spot is UNVISION Mexican Regional KHOT (LA NUEVA 105.9), trending 5.1 to 4.8. So with the top two down slightly, who was gaining share? A couple of Adult music stations appeared to be on the upswing. Both SANDUSKY Classic Rock KSLX, trending 3.9-4.5-4.7, and BONNEVILLE Adult Hits KPKX (98.7 THE PEAK), trending 3.3-4.3-4.3, showed gains. Also showing some growth was CCM+E Talk KFYI-A (4.0-4.2-4.4). Are the political battles in ARIZONA helping this station?
Spanish language KHOT grabbed the top spot with both 18-34 and 18-49, while KMXP grabbed the #1 spot for Adults 25-54, the second book in a row.
Minneapolis -- Music Is Three For Three
The top three stations in MINNEAPOLIS were music. CCM+E Country KEEY (K102) grabbed the top spot with an 8.6 share. This was KEEY’s best book in 2012. Sister station Top 40/M KDWB slipped slightly (8.6-8.4) but held onto the #2 spot. Rounding out the top four were HUBBARD Hot AC KSTP (KS95) and CBS RADIO Talk WCCO-A.
18-34 was dominated by KDWB. While KDWB was still holding the top spot with 18-49, KSTP remained a close second. This 1-2 rank flip-flops with 25-54 as KSTP took the top spot.
Tampa -- Cox Takes The Gold, Silver, And Bronze
When it came to 6+ share, COX RADIO Soft AC WDUV (THE DOVE) dominated the marketplace. The station’s 6+ share, a 9.9 up from a 9.0, was 3.0 share points higher than sister stations Classic Hits WXGL (107.3 THE EAGLE), trending 6.3-6.9, and AC WWRM (MAGIC 94.9), trending 6.0-6.1. Altogether, these three Cox properties captured nearly one-quarter (22.9%) of all listening in TAMPA.
When it came to specific demos, CCM+E Top 40/M WFLZ (93.3 FLZ) rode the Top 40 train, climbing to its highest point in over a year. 18-49 was ruled by COX RADIO Classic Rock WHPT (THE BONE), which also delivered its best book in this demo in over a year. WXGL is tops with 25-54.
