Country icon DOLLY PARTON literally put herself up for auction at a SEVIERVILLE, TENNESSEE charity event that occurred on SATURDAY, AUGUST 11th.
“EVENING OF ELEGANCE” is an annual event near DOLLY’s hometown that benefits the DR. ROBERT F. THOMAS FOUNDATION, named after the doctor who delivered her. The foundation supports the medical needs of SEVIER COUNTY, TENNESSEE residents.
For the event in the past, DOLLY had offered up private barbecue parties that raised a total of $95,000 for the non-profit. This SATURDAY (8/11) however, she upped the ante by offering to go on a date with the winning bidder.
DOLLY and her date will tour PARTON’s NASHVILLE homes, her tour bus and her favorite MUSIC CITY spots. The winning bidder and six guests will stay in DOLLY’s high-rise apartment in DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE and have a catered dinner and breakfast.
SATURDAY’s winning bid for this item was the highest single bid in the auction’s history, a $138,000 bid made by an anonymous person. This brings the total of DOLLY’s contributions to the foundation, to over $1 million dollars throughout the past five years.
"I haven't been on a blind date since high school. I'm truly delighted beyond belief. To think someone dug that deep to help the DR. ROBERT F. THOMAS FOUNDATION just humbles me. That $138,000 is going to do so much good in SEVIER COUNTY. This anonymous bidder won my heart because the foundation is so special to me," said DOLLY.
