Report: 97.3 The Zone/Birmingham Picks Up ESPN Radio Affiliation

The ESPN RADIO affiliation in the BIRMINGHAM market is moving from CUMULUS Sports WJOX (JOX 94.5) to rival COX MEDIA GROUP Sports WZNN (97.3 THE ZONE), reports CBS affiliate WIAT-TV (CBS 42).

The report indicates that THE ZONE will air ESPN on nights and weekends, full ESPN RADIO schedule, including "MIKE AND MIKE IN THE MORNING," "THE HERD WITH COLIN COWHERD,' and "THE SCOTT VAN PELT SHOW," will be cleared on sister WENN-A, which is presently airing an Urban Oldies format as "POWER 102.1" (with FM translator W270BW), and translator W294BL at 107.3 (moving in from 106.7 FM at CALERA, AL), as ESPN 1320 AND 107.3.    WJOX is now carrying FOX SPORTS RADIO in overnight and weekend slots and is slated to be an affiliate of CBS SPORTS RADIO when that network launches in SEPTEMBER.
