Radio One Buys Charlotte's WNOW-F For $7.75 Million

RADIO ONE's CHARLOTTE BROADCASTING, LLC is buying Regional Mexican WNOW-F (PODER FM)/GAFFNEY, SC-CHARLOTTE, NC and Country WZZQ-A-W282AX/GAFFNEY, SC from GAFFNEY BROADCASTING, LLC (the estate of BRIGHT G. BARKER and Trust A under Item V of the will of E. RAYMOND PARKER) for $7.75 million plus a time brokerage agreement with RADIO ONE programming commencing on SEPTEMBER 4th. RADIO ONE will spin WZZQ to FOWLER BROADCAST COMMUNICATIONS and W282AX to a third party in separate deals. WNOW-F is presently programmed by DAVIDSON MEDIA under an LMA that will end with the new TBA with RADIO ONE.
In other filings with the FCC, RUSSELL S. KIMBLE is selling his 100% interest in MB COMMUNICATIONS, INC., licensee of Adult Standards WYLF-A/PENN YAN, NY, to JEFFREY PEARCE for $450,000. The deal was brokered by KOZACKO MEDIA SERVICES and includes a time brokerage agreement before closing.
HERBERT HOFFMAN is gifting 22 shares of CHAMPION BROADCASTING SYSTEM, INC., licensee of Ethnic WUNR-A/BROOKLINE, MA, to his son MATTHEW HOFFMAN, resulting in transfer of majority control to the son, who would end up with 51% of the licensee.
BRAHMIN BROADCASTING CORP. has closed on the swap of Classic Hits KANT/GUERNSEY, WY to CHISHOLM TRAIL BROADCASTING LLC in exchange for Oldies KKAW/ALBIN, WY.
And BAYOU BROADCASTING, INC. has closed on the sale of AC KTRN (K-TRAIN)/WHITE HALL, AR to WILLIAM B. WACHTER for $162,500.
