FAIRFAX MEDIA Talk 3AW/MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA weekend host and entertainment reporter JOHN-MICHAEL HOWSON has been suspended for a month for directing "Sieg Heil!" at the mother of WIKILEAKS founder JULIAN ASSANGE.

THE DAY reports that HOWSON, who hosts "SUNDAY MORNING" on 3AW, issued a pre-recorded apology aired on SUNDAY's show.  CHRISTINE ASSANGE had been booked to appear with HOWSON, but told the host after listening to a prior interview with another guest, "I won't be doing an interview with you because you’re acting like a pig," whereupon HOWSON directed the Nazi salute to her as she hung up, saying later that he was highlighting the "Nazi mentality" of those trying to censor him.

ASSANGE's son is presently at the Ecuadorian embassy in LONDON seeking political asylum to avoid being sent to SWEDEN to stand trial for sexual assault, which he says is a pretext to extradite him to the U.S. for disseminating military secrets.  He made his first public appearance since moving into the embassy SUNDAY, making a statement from the balcony of the building while police waited below to arrest him if he stepped away from the embassy.
