NRG MEDIA Sports KOZN-A (1620AM THE ZONE)/OMAHA is adding an unofficial NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS football post-game show to air after each game. "THE BIG RED OVER-REACTION" will open the phone lines to callers to celebrate or vent about the HUSKERS with the station's regular lineup of hosts, including morning co-hosts JASON PETER (the former HUSKERS star) and GARY SHARP and afternoon "UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT" hosts JOHN BISHOP and MIKE'L SEVERE.
SHARP, the station's Sports Director, said, “We want to give HUSKER fans the megaphone they need to share their feelings immediately, therefore there will be no delay on the ZONE in airing post-game reaction, as we want to hear and read the barrage of fan responses, both positive and negative about the team’s performance on game day.”
SEVERE, calling the show a “therapy saver,” said, “I’m excited about the opportunity to talk to fans immediately after the game instead of waiting until MONDAY afternoon, as we have done in the past. Fans need to get their feelings off their chests immediately while their emotion is at its greatest crescendo. The BIG RED OVER-REACTION should save listeners time and money in mental health expenses."
“Our presentation of the program will be objective and offer a candid appraisal of the HUSKERS’ football performance since we are not obligated to the school’s Athletic Department like other metro radio stations,” added BISHOP. “We’ll have the freedom to inject our opinions without fear of reprisal.”
GM ANDY RUBACK said, “We have the talent and the capability to deliver a program that the market has never seen before. Our personalities have a combined total of nearly 100 years of experience with NEBRASKA football and we believe that fans will appreciate our unique approach to post-game programming that they have never had before.”
