Condolences to family and friends of former WJOL-A/JOLIET, IL personality TONY RAY, who died FRIDAY night at 53 after a battle with kidney problems, according to the JOLIET HERALD NEWS.
RAY started in radio at the age of 15 at WJRC-A/JOLIET and moved to WJOL in 1978, first as a sportscaster and overnight and weekend host, then as morning host and OM/PD. He left to work at CRAWFORD BROADCASTING's CHICAGOLAND GOSPEL RADIO NETWORK as OM in 1998 and left radio to become a victim's advocate with the WILL COUNTY State's Attorney's Office.
He returned to WJOL as afternoon host in 2005-07 and also served as Executive Director of the FOREST PARK COMMUNITY CENTER.
