CLEAR CHANNEL Country WCTQ (106.5 CTQ SUNCOAST COUNTRY)/SARASOTA, FL morning show hosts MAVERICK and LULU got a call-in from a very special listener YESTERDAY (8/30).
U.S. AIR FORCE Sr. Airman ROLAND KELLEY of SARASOTA had posted a message on the station’s FACEBOOK page earlier, asking for a “shout-out” for his family back home. He also mentioned that he listens to WCTQ via the iHEARTRADIO app while currently deployed overseas.
From KYRGYZSTAN, a city located North of PAKISTAN and AFGHANISTAN, KELLEY is able to listen to the familiar personalities and music that he typically enjoys when at home. Upon receiving the request, MAVERICK and LULU did the “shout-out,” thanked him for his service over the air, invited him to visit the studio once he returns home, and played SHOW DOG-UNIVERSAL artist TOBY KEITH’s “American Soldier” in KELLEY’s honor.
An hour later, Sr. Airman ROLAND KELLEY called into the morning show from KYRGYZSTAN to personally thank MAVERICK and LULU, and accepted their invitation to hang out at the studio when he returns home at the end of SEPTEMBER.
