99X/Atlanta Flipping To Active Rock On Saturday

Rock Returns To The ATL

Two days after CLEAR CHANNEL flipped Active Rock WKLS (PROJECT 9-6-1) to Top 40 Power 96.1 (NET NEWS, 8/29), CUMULUS Alternative WWWQ-HD2-W255CJ (99X AT 98.9) has announced on TWITTER and its FACEBOOK page that it will flip to Active Rock "98.9 THE BONE" TOMORROW at NOON.

The station is stunting with clips of Active Rock hits and messages for listeners to tune in at noon. Their FACEBOOK page is already up, and here are some Tweets announcing the shift.

"We are the saviors of rock," CUMULUS EVP/Co-COO JOHN DICKEY told AJC'S RODNEY HO. "We ran CLEAR CHANNEL out of format. We are going to save rock for all Atlantans ... CLEAR CHANNEL tried to kill off rock. We’re going to save it."
