LAKES MEDIA Top 40/ WMPW (AMP 103.7)/DANVILLE, VA, has flipped its format to Country Legends 103.7. Additionally, Country Legends will also be found on the AM dial at 970. The new station will air the likes of JOHNNY CASH, KENNY ROGERS, ALAN JACKSON, DOLLY PARTON and GEORGE JONES. The previous “AMP 103.7” will still be available online and via mobile devices under the moniker “AMPMOBILE.NET.”
The launch of Country Legends 103.7 and re-launch of AMPMobile.net was witnessed by a gathering of local political and media dignitaries. After a few words from LAKES MEDIA President TOM BIRCH, Country Legends 103.7 hit the Radio airwaves with “Gone Country” by ALAN JACKSON.
“During the past year, we’ve observed that more of the AMP Top 40 audience is listening online and on mobile devices than on the radio, so we decided to optimize our media assets by moving AMP to exclusive digital delivery. Since radio is still the music medium of choice for Adults over 45, we’ve introduced a music format on radio that fits perfectly with their tastes. Country Legends 103.7 delivers great music that has vanished from the radio dial in recent years and, as a result, there is a huge un-served audience in DANVILLE that has been waiting for a station like Country Legends 103.7 to sign on,” said TOM BIRCH.
