Famed Songwriter Hal David Dies

HAL DAVID passed away SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st at CEDARS-SINAI MEDICAL CENTER in LOS ANGELES. He had been ill for several months following a series of strokes.   
 
DAVID also served as ASCAP President from 1980 - 1986. He became a member of the NATIONAL SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME in 1972, and was inducted into the NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME in 1984. HAL DAVID received a star on the HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME last year (2011). 

This past MAY, President OBAMA presented the LIBRARY OF CONGRESS GERSHWIN PRIZE to DAVID's wife, EUNICE, on his behalf. Due to his illness, HAL was unable to attend the ceremony.
