LOS ANGELES humorist and public radio commentator SANDRA TSING LOH's syndicated daily public radio feature "THE LOH DOWN ON SCIENCE" has received a $600,000 grant from the GORDON AND BETTY MOORE FOUNDATION aimed at production costs through 2015.
LOH and SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC RADIO noncommercial News-Talk KPCC/PASADENA-LOS ANGELES have formed a new non-profit corporation, LDOS MEDIA LAB, INC., to co-produce the feature, airing on over 160 stations in 40 countries, as of this month.
LOH said, "It's ironic that the faster technology advances, the more helpless our magical gadgets can render us. Using our I-Phones, we are using as much computational power as was once used to launch rockets to GOOGLE map directions to THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY! Given that today's global problems will have both technological and human solutions, it's crucial for our future to demystify science, make it fun, and invite everyone in."
