TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS VP OSCAR RODRIGUEZ has been named President of the organization, filling the post left empty by the death of longtime TAB Pres. ANN ARNOLD (NET NEWS 9/4).
RODRIGUEZ was unanimously promoted by the TAB Board of Directors last week, He has served the TAB as VP since 1994 and previously worked as Legislative Liaison for the TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY and as Assistant Press Secretary (under ARNOLD, who was Press Secretary) for Gov. MARK WHITE.
A statement from TAB Board Chairman MARY "MIKE" HATCHER of BRYAN BROADCASTING said, " All of us on the Board and among the membership who have worked with OSCAR over the past 18 years have witnessed his work ethic, passion and dedication to our industry. He has been instrumental in every major legislative initiative in AUSTIN and WASHINGTON that TAB has undertaken, helping make TAB a powerhouse organization respected in both capitals.
"Under his leadership, our member services have greatly expanded, the Annual Convention & Trade Show has become one of the top industry events in the country, our financial position has much improved and we have recruited a top-notch team of professionals working on our behalf at TAB.
"All of us on the TAB Board have seen in OSCAR what ANN saw: our future leader. I hope you’ll join me in congratulating him and renewing a commitment to help continue TAB’s tradition of success."
