The 2012 CANADIAN COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS took place at the CREDIT UNION CENTRE on SUNDAY (9/9) in SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN. Country stars arriving made their way down the new “Green Carpet,” a visual reference to this year’s CCMA corporate sponsor, JOHN DEERE.
DEAN BRODY opened last night’s show with his single “CANADIAN Girls” and took home two awards including “Album of the Year” and “Male Artist of the Year.” CAROLYN DAWN JOHSON went home with “Female Artist of the Year” and trio HEY ROMEO took the “Group or Duo of the Year” award. Newcomer KIRA ISABELLA won her first CCMA with the “Rising Star Award.” JOHNNY REID received “Fan’s Choice Award.”
The evening’s presenters included TAYLOR SWIFT, ALAN DOYLE, ALLAN HAWCO, AMBER MARSHALL, GRAHAM WARDLE and THEO FLURRY. Among the nineteen performers who took the stage were JASON ALDEAN, PISTOL ANNIES, ERIC CHURCH and MIRANDA LAMBERT.
