CBS RADIO Talk WNEW-A/WASHINGTON is relaunching with a new focus on government and business as "1580 GOV.BIZ RADIO" on OCTOBER 1st. Sister News WNEW-F (ALL NEWS 99.1) PD ROBERT SANCHEZ will double as PD of the AM station as well.
THe lineup will include BLOOMBERG RADIO's "FIRST WORD WITH KEN PREWITT," the local "THE DAILY BRIEFING" with WNEW-F anchor NANCY LYONS 7-10a, "ON THE ECONOMY WITH CAROL MASSAR AND MICHAEL MCKEE" 10a-noon, LYONS again with "THE CAPITOL HILL REPORT" at noon (produced with THE HILL), BLOOMBERG's "THE HAYS ADVANTAGE" with KATHLEEN HAYS 12:30-4, DIAL GLOBAL's CLARK HOWARD 4-6p, and "THE DAILY WRAP WITH MICHAEL CASTNER" from THE WALL STREET JOURNAL RADIO NETWORK at 6p (ET).
“Politics may be what everyone talks about in WASHINGTON, D.C., but the federal government is the primary industry employing more than a quarter of the local population,” said SANCHEZ. “We feel strongly about providing programming that serves this important audience with updated information about our government and how it intersects with business. There’s no better place for this station to be than in the backyard of the nation’s capital.”
SVP/Market Manager STEVE SWENSON added, “Having these two powerful news properties, ALL NEWS 99.1 and 1580 GOV.BIZ RADIO, creates complimentary product offerings to better serve listeners and advertisers in our nation’s capital."
Crosstown HUBBARD News WTOP has been for several years supplemented by its own government-news-oriented format, FEDERAL NEWS RADIO, airing on WFED-A.
