The BOSTON RED SOX have honored JOE CASTIGLIONE for 30 years as the SOX' radio voice. CASTIGLIONE, heard on the SOX radio network headed by ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-A-F/BOSTON, was feted at a ceremony prior to WEDNESDAY's game against the NEW YORK YANKEES, with SOX owner JOHN HENRY, Chairman TOM WERNER, and Pres./CEO LARRY LUCCHINO on hand.
The ceremony included replays of some of CASTIGLIONE's most memorable calls and the presentation of a gold album of his "greatest hits."
"GOD really has blessed me with a chance to watch the best of the best for 30 seasons, from the best seat in the house and talk to the best fans in baseball," said CASTIGLIONE, who called CLEVELAND INDIANS and MILWAUKEE BREWERS games before joining the SOX. "For 24 of those 30 years, I've had a winning team to broadcast, including 12 postseasons and two world championships. And I know we'll be back to that forum very soon."
