CHRIS ECONOMAKI, one of motor sports' most well-known broadcasters over an over-40-year career at ABC, CBS, and ESPN, died TODAY (9/28) at 91.
ECONOMAKI, a member of the MOTORSPORTS HALL OF FAME and winner of NASCAR's Award of Excellence and Lifetime Achievement Award, covered practically all major racing events, including the INDIANAPOLIS 500, DAYTONA 500, and Formula One races. In recent years, he provided commentary for the INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY RADIO NETWORK and SPEED CHANNEL and wrote for NATIONAL SPEED SPORT NEWS, which he founded as a teenager and operated for over 60 years.
