BICOASTAL MEDIA Country KSHR (97.3 HOT COUNTRY K-SHORE)/COOS BAY, OR hosted its 8th season of the TEXACO COUNTRY SHOWDOWN, “AMERICA’s Largest Country Music Talent Search,” on FRIDAY (9/28). The event was the OREGON State Finals of the competition, and included 10 contestants from OREGON, Northern CALIFORNIA and IDAHO.

The “J SWIFT BAND,” representing BICOASTAL MEDIA Country KRKT/ALBANY, OR won the state finals (and $1,000) and will advance to the Western regional finals to be held on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10th, also hosted by KSHR. That event will include one finalist from each state of WASHINGTON, OREGON, CALIFORNIA, IDAHO, NEVADA, MONTANA, UTAH, HAWAII and ALASKA. Winners from five regional competitions across the U.S. (including the Western regionals) will then receive all-expense paid trips to perform on the televised National Finals at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM in NASHVILLE. The TEXACO COUNTRY SHOWDOWN winner will be awarded $100,000.

Annually, over 450 radio stations host local competitions in support of the event. Past winners (at various local, state and national levels) have included GARTH BROOKS, NEAL McCOY, MIRANDA LAMBERT, BRAD PAISLEY, BILLY RAY CYRUS, and many more well-known Country music names.
