Condolences to the family and friends of TONY GRIFFIN, who passed away suddenly on SEPTEMBER 29th at his DALLAS-based studio. GRIFFIN was 63. He was born DECEMBER 18th, 1948, in CHICAGO to DAVID and WANDA GRIFFIN.
At a young age he was drawn to the arts, and his early calling proved to be true as GRIFFIN went on to achieve success and sustain a long, pioneering career in the music industry. Through various garage bands and gigs and a passion for guitar, GRIFFIN made it from the MIDWEST to DALLAS aspiring to be a performer and engineer. He continued to play clubs in DALLAS while simultaneously learning the behind-the-scenes aspect of music production with TOM MERRIMAN. His stint at TM helped lay the foundation and eventually GRIFFIN would launch his own company in DALLAS.
He was an avid art collector, with a keen interest in oil paintings. But his true love was music, specifically writing and producing for radio, film and television. TONY GRIFFIN PRODUCTIONS was an established music production company in DALLAS for many years and produced for clients worldwide.
Those in the music industry will remember GRIFFIN as a very knowledgeable and adept producer and engineer.
GRIFFIN is survived by his son, JUSTIN, his daughter-in-law, LISA, his new grandson, OLIVER, who immediately found a very special spot in his grandpa's heart, and his brother ROBERT. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, MICHAEL, PAT and BETH.
There will be a remembrance gathering at 10a on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5th at RESTLAND FUNERAL HOME, WILDWOOD CHAPEL, followed by a service at 10:30a.
