Condolences to family and friends of former WNBC-A/NEW YORK personality and longtime RALEIGH-DURHAM television news anchor BOB VERNON, who died SUNDAY of blood complications in PARKER, CO at 70.
VERNON (born ROBERT VERNON COSART, JR.) began his career at WIMA-A/LIMA, OH and hosted afternoons at WNBC in 1974-76 (with the slogan "VERNON with a V") before becoming a news anchor at several TV stations, including KSTP-TV/ST. PAUL-MINNEAPOLIS. He anchored the news at WRAL-TV/RALEIGH in 1989-95 and at WLFL-TV/RALEIGH in 1995-2006.
