ABC RADIO NETWORKS’ "SATELLITE SISTERS" are rallying to the cause of RADIO AL-MAHABA/BAGHDAD, a station's whose sole purpose is to educate and empower women so they will be able to participate in the country's emerging society. Since its MARCH '05 inception, RADIO AL-MAHABA's staff has persevered in spite of death threats, a transmitter blown up by a car bomb, seriously thin resources, and recently, the failure of their rented transmitter.
The SATELLITE SISTERS are leading a fundraising campaign to "Keep Al-Mahaba Talking." Their goal is to raise $100,000. The DOLAN sisters will launch the campaign this evening at the AMERICAN WOMEN IN RADIO & TELEVISION’s GRACIE ALLEN AWARDS event in NEW YORK.
Contributions to the fund can be made at www.satellitesisters.com. For more information about RADIO AL-MAHABA, visit www.okiinc.org/vow_radio.html.
