The previously reported proposal for the CITY OF DALLAS to swap its commercial Classical WRR/DALLAS' frequency for noncommercial Religion KVTT's signal and about $50 million is being considered by the DALLAS City Council's Commission on Productivity and Innovation over the misgivings of WRR management.
The DALLAS MORNING NEWS reports that WRR GM GREG DAVIS warned that with the prohibition on commercials "you will begin to hear a lot of pledge drives. You will hear a lot of calls to individual listeners." The move, the latest proposal to extract cash out of the value of WRR for the city, was debated at a committee meeting on WEDNESDAY.
