CRTC Denies License Renewal For CHIM

The CRTC has denied the license renewal application of 1158556 ONTARIO LIMITED (ROGER DE BRABANT) for Religion CHIM/TIMMINS, ON and its transmitter at NORTH BAY, IROQUOIS FALLS, KIRKLAND LAKE, NEW LISKEARD, SAULT STE. MARIE, ELLIOT LAKE, CHAPLEAU, WAWA, and KAPUSKASING, ON and RED DEER, AB.

The Commission said that the station had failed to comply with the rules regarding submission of logger tapes, annual returns and other information and Canadian Content Development contributions for the 2010-2011 broadcast year.  The CRTC specifically rejected the station's CCD contribution to a local studio for music aired exclusively on the station and for capital development as not eligible to be considered a proper CCD contribution.  If the license revocation stands, the stations will have to sign off no later than NOVEMBER 30th.
