FACEBOOK CEO MARK ZUCKERBERG has once again altered how many people actually see your status updates in their Live Feeds (and this change comes just seven months after the last time he reduced the reach brands have on FACEBOOK.)
JACOBS MEDIA Dir./Digital & Social Strategies and MERGE author LORI LEWIS says, "It shouldn't come as any surprise that your brand's reach has decreased again. ZUCKERBERG always speaks about maintaining 'the integrity' of the Live Feed -- and rightfully so.
"With about 2.7 million pieces of content flowing through his platform each day, there has to be some type of traffic control. So, he's tightened up the rules of 'Edge Rank' to ensure only the most interesting posts are seen by FACEBOOK users. (He's trying to weed out promotional-type posts.)
"But there's more to it than that.
"He has a public company now and investors to perform for."
MERGE is dedicated to helping radio grow in the social and digital space. Another great piece from LORI this week titled, "It's Not You, It's The Landlord."
