Storm Forces Cancellation Of New York Public Radio Gala

NEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO has cancelled its annual Gala scheduled for MONDAY night at 583 PARK AVENUE in NEW YORK due to the impending arrival of Hurricane SANDY. 

The Gala was to honor longtime NYPR Trustee LULU C. WANG and was to feature ALEC BALDWIN and soprano DEBORAH VOIGHT.  The broadcaster, which operates Talk WNYC-A and WNYC-F and Classical WQXR/NEW YORK, said that it is donating the food from the gala to evacuation centers in the city and to those in need, and still plans to honor WANG at another time.
