PRESS COMMUNICATIONS Alternative G ROCK RADIO/MONMOUTH-OCEAN (WHTG/EATONTOWN, NJ & WBBO/OCEAN ACRES, NJ) adds another signal in southern OCEAN COUNTY: WKOE/BASS RIVER TOWNSHIP, NJ at 106.5.
WKOE was previously licensed to OCEAN CITY, NJ, further down the south JERSEY coast, where it operated on 106.3 and was part of PRESS' "Breeze" AC format, which also airs on WWZY/LONG BRANCH, NJ (107.1) and WBHX/BEACH HAVEN,NJ (99.7).
PRESS moved WKOE north to BASS RIVER TOWNSHIP, and changed the frequency to 106.5, which complements WHTG's 106.3 dial position. Automobiles equipped with RDS technology will automatically lock on the stronger signal of 106.3 or 106.5 as listeners travel north and south through the market.
“Adding 106.5 to G ROCK RADIO’s dial positions is very exciting for us,” said GM FRANK CALDERARO. “Now G ROCK RADIO is bigger, better and easier for our listeners to remember.”
As part of this switch, look for the WBBO calls to move from the 98.5 frequency to 106.5, with the WKOE calls headed to 98.5. Also expect a new format to eventually debut on 98.5, after OCEAN COUNTY listeners are given enough time to make the switch.
