Monterey Radio Veteran Ed Dickinson Retires

PEOPLE'S RADIO, INC. Oldies KYAA-A/SOQUEL-MONTEREY, CA weekend Adult Standards "WAY BACK NOW" show host ED DICKINSON has retired, reports the MONTEREY HERALD.

DICKINSON, 86, hosted the show on KYAA on SATURDAY and SUNDAY mornings since JANUARY and suffered his second stroke on MONDAY (10/29).  He previously hosted for 17 years on crosstown BUCKLEY Adult Standards KIDD-A, continuing for two years after that station's flip to Sports before the show's cancellation in MAY 2011.

"It was a difficult call to make, of course, but the more I think about it, the more I understand that this probably is the decision I need to make," DICKINSON told the HERALD. "And, frankly, there are times on the radio now when I find myself fumbling around for the right word that just doesn't come as easily as it used to."
