REPUBLIC NASHVILLE artist MARTINA MCBRIDE is a vocal supporter of breast cancer awareness and research. As ALL ACCESS previously reported (NET NEWS 10/22), she is currently teamed up with GENERAL MILLS’ “Save Lids To Save Lives” campaign. She also recorded a song called “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” that chronicles the true story of a woman’s breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
MCBRIDE’s fan club members pulled together during the month of OCTOBER, which is NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH, to extend the efforts of the songstress by raising money for the cause. Several fan club members are breast cancer survivors and were featured in the music video for “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” The dedicated fans call themselves “TEAM MARTINA.”
TEAM MARTINA has actively been promoting awareness and creating fundraisers to raise money. To date, they have raised more than $25,000 for a grant in MARTINA’s name through the T.J. MARTELL FOUNDATION. The grant will benefit the VANDERBILT-INGRAM CANCER CENTER in NASHVILLE.
"I've got a group called ‘TEAM MARTINA’ which I'm really proud of, and they have a grant for T.J. MARTELL in my name!" MCBRIDE told NBC-TV’s TODAY SHOW.
TEAM MARTINA will continue their fundraising efforts. To donate, or learn more, visit www.TJMartell.org.
