Willie Nelson Receives First-Ever CMA Lifetime Achievement Award

During LAST NIGHT’s (11/1) 46th Annual CMA AWARDS, ARISTA NASHVILLE artist and awards show co-host BRAD PAISLEY handed out a special honor -- the CMA “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
The recipient was Country music icon WILLIE NELSON. “WILLIE is an iconic musical legend and innovator. Even as he approaches his 80th birthday, WILLIE continues to be a lasting and meaningful influence on our music and artists. There is no one more deserving of this honor than MR. WILLIE NELSON,” said CMA CEO STEVE MOORE.
The CMA “Lifetime Achievement Award” is given to artists who have attained the highest degree of recognition in Country music, both nationally and internationally. It also recognizes that artists’ contributions in philanthropy and humanitarian efforts.
The award was created this year, and NELSON is the first recipient. It will now be recognized as the “WILLIE NELSON Lifetime Achievement Award” in the years to come.
