WCNR Gets ‘Political’

SAGA Triple A WCNR (106.1 THE CORNER)/CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA has a mantra that "It’s About The Music," but the station is also very locally focused and civicly engaged.

Being in a battleground state/swing state, they’ve had political figures like Senate Candidates TIM KAINE (D-VA) and GEORGE ALLEN (R-VA) on-the-air, as well as VIRGINIA 5th District Congressional Candidates from both sides.

And during a recent Democratic/OBAMA Rally with BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN performing solo/acoustic at the NTELOS WIRELESS PAVILION, the station got clearance to record and broadcast the entire six-song acoustic set from the OBAMA campaign!

"It was like a CORNER LOUNGE acoustic session, in front of 4,000 people with MR. SPRINGSTEEN!" said PD BRAD SAVAGE.

Meanwhile, the station is talking with notable music figures like SHERYL CROW, JEFF TWEEDY, JAMES TAYLOR, JASON MRAZ and CAROLE KING over the next 24 hours who will urge listeners to get out and VOTE!

Additionally, they have CORNER LOUNGE in-studios with DONAVON FRANKENREITER, A FINE FRENZY and THE WHIGS, all of which have separate MONDAY NIGHT concerts in town!
