HENRI AUDET, the former CBC engineer who founded what became the QUEBEC-based media giant COGECO, died SATURDAY at 94, the company announced TODAY.
AUDET founded COGECO with a single television station in TROIS-RIVERES, QC (CKTM-TV) in 1957 and built it into a major television and cable company and radio broadcaster. The radio division operated the RYTHME FM network of stations in QUEBEC and later, after AUDET's retirement, bought the CORUS QUEBEC stations.
AUDET retired as CEO in 1993, as Chairman in 1996, and from the board in 2006.
