HALL COMMUNICATIONS Country WCTY/ NORWICH, CT held their annual food drive for the 14th year in a row on THURSDAY and FRIDAY (11/1- 11/2).
At the local BIG Y grocery store, WCTY staffers and their television colleagues from MEREDITH CORPORATION’s WFSB accepted donations of canned goods, non-perishables, clothing, blankets, bottled water and monetary donations from the public. However, this year’s collection was especially impressive given the fact that a majority of the public had been affected by recent HURRICANE SANDY.
“The turn-out this year was amazing and so humbling. Here are all of these people who have had a really rough week with the hurricane - and may have no power and may have special needs themselves. Yet, they came with carloads of donations and gave freely. I am awed and proud to be of service to the incredible people of southeastern CONNECTICUT,” WCTY PD, DAVE ELDER.
This year’s drive was the most successful to date and will benefit the THAMES VALLEY COUNCIL FOR COMMUNITY ACTION and the GEMMA E. MORAN UNITED WAY/ LABOR CENTER.
