BONNEVILLE Talk KTAR-F/PHOENIX lost power at its transmitter in the SOUTH MOUNTAIN antenna farm TUESDAY night in the middle of its election coverage, during the 7p (MT) hour, reports the PHOENIX BUSINESS JOURNAL. The station switched to its former home of 620 AM (now Sports KTAR-A) until the FM got back on the air shortly after 8p.
BONNEVILLE PHOENIX VP of News and Sports RYAN HATCH told the paper, "We suffered a system wide power failure at our broadcast transmission tower site on SOUTH MOUNTAIN which took out our terrestrial radio feed. The issue was so severe that our engineers could only restore the system onsite (which is about a 40 minute drive), which led to the extended off air period on KTAR-FM. It was unfortunate and unfortunately completely out of our control."
