In his "THE LETTER FROM ALL ACCESS NEWS-TALK-SPORTS" column this week, ALL ACCESS VP/News-Talk-Sports Editor PERRY MICHAEL SIMON takes a lesson for talk radio from the just-concluded political campaigns and advises talk programmers to be aware of the cultural shifts that affected the election and will affect talk radio's attempts to get younger listeners.
Pointing out the contrasting imagery presented by the OBAMA and ROMNEY campaigns even in their choices for rally entertainment, SIMON likens talk radio today to "the station playing the MARSHALL TUCKER BAND hoping to attract KATY PERRY fans." His prescription for change is something to which talk programmers, hosts, producers, and station managers might want to pay attention. Read "Get On My Lawn!" by clicking here.
In addition, SIMON will be moderating a panel on finding new talent at the TALK SHOW BOOT CAMP in NEW ORLEANS next week (11/16-17) at the WESTIN CANAL PLACE HOTEL in NEW ORLEANS. The event, created by TALENTMASTERS' DON ANTHONY and co-sponsored this year by GABE HOBBS MEDIA, includes a long list of the format and industry's top names, including HOBBS, FRED JACOBS, MIKE MCVAY, CHRIS OLIVIERO, RICK SCOTT, SEAN COMPTON, HARVEY NAGLER, STEVE JONES, AMY BOLTON, DENNIS GREEN, JIM FARLEY, KEN CHARLES, RANDALL BLOOMQUIST, BILL HESS, BILL PASHA, DANNO WOLKOFF, KIPPER MCGEE, DANIEL ANSTANDIG, and many more, plus a talent roster featuring CHRIS STIGALL, MICHAEL BERRY, STEPHEN A. SMITH, LESLIE MARSHALL, B.J. SHEA, WMAL's BRIAN WILSON, DENNY SCHAFFER, LADONA HARVEY, BRITT WHITMIRE, and DR. DALIAH WACHS.
