Support among broadcasters for the Internet Radio Fairness Act continues to grow, with COX MEDIA GROUP coming out in favor of the proposed legislation.
CMG Dir./Communications ANDY MCDILL explained, "COX MEDIA GROUP supports efforts, including the Internet Radio Fairness Act, to reform royalty rates for Internet radio. We believe the current royalty system for Internet radio actually hinders its future and growth. COX MEDIA GROUP strongly believes in a vibrant internet radio marketplace, where artists, broadcasters and our listeners benefit from a sustainable rate setting process."
CMG has not yet gone as far as CLEAR CHANNEL CEO BOB PITTMAN (NET NEWS 10/25), who recently joined a wide spectrum of organizations, ranging from Internet radio services to broadcast radio companies and groups concerned about the future of the Internet radio industry, to create the INTERNET RADIO FAIRNESS COALITION.
