WMPW Morning Host Blake Dalton Dies At Age 24

LAKE MEDIA Classic Country WMPW/ DANVILLE, VA Morning host BLAKE DALTON suddenly passed away MONDAY (11/12) after complications from a seizure. He was just 24 years old.
Visitation is from 6:30p until 9p (ET) TONIGHT (11/15) at EMMANUEL PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH in DRY FORK, VA. There, DALTON’s funeral will take place TOMORROW (11/16) at 11a (ET).
Upon hearing the news on TUESDAY morning (11/12), listeners began to flood WMPW with phone calls and flowers. The station dedicated its programming to BLAKE, accepting sympathy calls from listeners and playing all of his favorite songs. DALTON had been broadcasting in the DANVILLE market since he was 17 years old.
On the station’s FACEBOOK page, listeners continue to respond to the loss. Co-worker ALISON ARRINGTON posted “BLAKE is unforgettable! To know him was an honor! What a truly passionate individual, about his job and his love for Country music!!!!”
Listener BOB HAYDEN said “The old expression still holds true -- The good die young,” while listener TONYA SIMS asked the station “please keep those commercials of BLAKE on the air. It helps people cope as you can hear the happiness in his voice.”
