The WEST TEXAS RADIO GROUP of stations in MIDLAND-ODESSA (Country KHKX, Oldies KMCM and Adult Hits KQRX), raised $47,500 for victims of a tragic train accident that involved a group of military veterans and their spouses on their way to a banquet to honor them.
The air staff broadcast live for 12 hours in the station's parking lot FRIDAY, NOV. 16th, and invited listeners to donate cash to help the families affected by the tragedy.
"We cried together, we grieved together, and through it all -- together, we raised over $47,500 for the families affected by this tragedy. We are so grateful for their unparalleled generosity," said KHKX PD MIKE LAWRENCE.
The accident claimed the lives of four veterans and injured 17 others. The Parade was part of the Show of Support/Hunt of Heroes parade and was the prelude to a whitetail deer-hunting trip for the veterans.
