In late summer we told you about THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AUSTIN acquiring a second signal that will become all music, while the KUT will be the all news and information. (see original story here). Well, the all-music Triple A KUTX (98.9) is expected to launch in early JANUARY 2013.
SUSAN CASTLE will host morning drive on KUTX, while MATT REILLY will host afternoon drive. KEVIN CONNOR, LAURIE GALLARDO, JAY TRACHTENBERG and others will continue to broadcast in their current time slots on KUTX. A complete KUTX schedule will be announced in DECEMBER.
Several specialty programs will also make the migration including "Eklektikos" with JOHN AIELLI; PAUL RAY's "Twine Time"; "Horizontes" with MICHAEL CROCKETT; "Texas Music Matters"; "Left of the Dial" with MD JEFF MCCORD; "Folkways"; "Across the Water" with ED MILLER; and "World Music" with HAYES MCCAULEY.
New music programs on KUTX will include: "Cactus Cafe Live," featuring curated live music from the legendary venue; "Jazz with JAY TRACHTENBERG," featuring jazz classics, as well as new releases; "New Music SUNDAY" with JEFF MCCORD, featuring an eclectic mix of new music and special previews from new and established artists; and a three-hour SUNDAY MORNING program hosted by JODY DENBERG highlighting a free-form mix of music from off the beaten path.
Additionally, live music from KUTX's Studio 1A and THE CACTUS CAFE, which is operated by KUT, will feature prominently on the station.
