Another school decides to get out of radio ownership with the news that BARD COLLEGE is selling noncommercial Variety WLHV/ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY to TRI-STATE PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS, INC. for $17,000. The buyer owns NPR affiliate WHDD-A-F (ROBIN HOOD RADIO)/SHARON, CT.
In other deals filed with the FCC, THOMAS BROADCASTING, INC. is selling Urban Inspirational WXKL-A/SANFORD, NC to JIMMY JOHNSON's JOHNSON BROADCAST VENTURES, LTD. for $26,000.
WESTERN NEW YORK PUBLIC BROADCASTING ASSOCIATION has sold WNED-A/BUFFALO to KIMTRON INC. for $875,000 cash.
MMTC BROADCASTING LLC has closed on the sale of Silent KYHN-A/FT SMITH, AR to KIM GIRDNER's MS. KIM MEDIA, LLC for $50,000.
FIRST VENTURES CAPITAL PARTNERS, INC. has closed on the sale of FM translator K296FG/MIDLAND, TX to CDA BROADCASTING, INC. for $60,000. The station will rebroadcast the buyer's Talk daytimer KWEL-A/MIDLAND.
And FIRST VENTURES CAPITAL PARTNERS, INC. has closed on the sale of FM translator K237EL/HURON, SD to DAKOTA COMMUNICATIONS, LTD. for $20,000. The translator will rebroadcast the buyer's Oldies KIJV-A (OLDIES 1340)/HURON.
Also, in a deal yet to be filed with the FCC, TOWERS INVESTMENT TRUST is selling KTTY/NEW BOSTON, TX-TEXARKANA to TEXARKANA RADIO CENTER for an undisclosed price. The buyer separately has filed to buy five other full-power stations and an FM translator in the TEXARKANA market (NET NEWS 11/26). BILL WHITLEY of MEDIA SERVICES GROUP represented the seller and CLIFTON GARDINER represented the buyer in the deal.
And The UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS has closed on the purchase of Classic Hits-Oldies KXBT (AUSTIN'S GREATEST HITS)/AUSTIN from BORDER MEDIA PARTNERS (BMP AUSTIN LICENSE COMPANY, L.P.) for $6 million. KXBT is becoming Triple A KUTX under its new ownership, allowing the school's KUT to shift to all-News-Talk. GREG GUY of PATRICK COMMUNICATIONS served as broker for the deal.
