ACCURADIO LLC has launched a new brand, GO.FM, that features a brand-new approach to the concept of building "artist-based" channels. "Launching a channel of Internet radio by typing in the name of a recording artist is an increasingly popular consumer behavior," ACCURADIO Founder/CEO KURT HANSON stated. "And we think we’ve developed a new approach that creates better-sounding channels than anyone has ever offered before."
GO.FM’s approach is to use a proprietary algorithm, developed by the company this year, that looks for similarities within the 650+ channels of music that ACCURADIO’s music programmers have built over the last decade. "Let’s say, for example, the consumer enters the name ‘JULIE LONDON'," HANSON explained. "Our algorithm looks at which of our channels play JULIE LONDON’s music. It would find she’s featured on our jazz vocalists channel, our female jazz artists channel, our ’50s- and ‘60s-based jazz channels, our COLE PORTER channel, and so forth ... and then it would build a customized playlist for that particular listener based on compatible artists from those channels. It’s a unique approach that (A) requires massive computing power, but (B) also reflects the judgment of the many talented people who’ve built our channels over the years. The result is great-sounding music!"
"We’ve been doing a significant amount of market research on GO.FM, and we’ve learned that it tests extremely well among P35-64 listeners, winning head-to-head comparisons against all of the other leading brands of personalizable radio," COO JOHN GEHRON added. "Consumers tell us they like both the ease-of-use and the quality of music programming they get."
