In looking into why CUMULUS stations are not reported in the ARBITRON numbers reported to the media for the CINCINNATI market, the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER's JOHN KIESEWETTER was told by CUMULUS Regional VP DAVE CROWL that his company and ARBITRON are close to a new deal that would return the stations to the ratings soon.
Responding to CUMULUS CINCINNATI Operations Director and Classic Hits WGRR PD KEITH MITCHELL's statement that CUMULUS is "currently negotiating a new contract with Arbitron and we hope to have that finalized soon," CROWL said that MITCHELL is "correct. We are in the final stages of completing a new deal with ARBITRON. Our numbers will be posted by the time the next monthly is released. ARBITRON policy does not permit news outlets or trade publications to post non subscriber ratings in the press. All a technicality.”
CUMULUS stations are presently reported in ARBITRON ratings in some markets, including most PPM markets, but not in others.
