It's Official: Joel Klaiman Joins Columbia As EVP/GM

ALL ACCESS tipped you last month (NET NEWS 11/12), and now COLUMBIA RECORDS Chairman/CEO ROB STRINGER has made it official, naming JOEL KLAIMAN as EVP/GM of the label. KLAIMAN had previously held the position of EVP/Promotion and Artist Development at UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC RECORDS since 2006.
During his tenure at UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC, KLAIMAN played an instrumental role in spearheading breaking new artist campaigns for talent including AMY WINEHOUSE, FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, TAYLOR SWIFT, GOTYE, NICKI MINAJ, THE BAND PERRY, ALEX CLARE, OF MONSTERS AND MEN, PSY and re-energizing the profile of artists like ENRIQUE IGLESIAS. This year KLAIMAN led UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC to the #1 Overall Airplay Market share.

KLAIMAN began his career in 1990 as a manager at FRANK DILEO MANAGEMENT. He served as Sr. Dir./National Alternative Promotion for ELEKTRA ENTERTAINMENT GROUP before joining the EPIC RECORDS GROUP in 1996 as VP/Alternative Music. In 1998, he was named VP/Promotion for SONY 550 MUSIC, becoming VP/Promotion for EPIC RECORDS in 1999. He was named SVP/Promotion for the company in 2001, helping to plot the strategic radio development of artists such as CELINE DION, SHAKIRA, KORN, OASIS, FIONA APPLE, INCUBUS, SADE and JAMIROQUAI, among others. In 2006, he was appointed EVP/Promotion for EPIC RECORDS.
