Confirming what ALL ACCESS first reported (NET NEWS 6/20), GREATER MEDIA is going to move Country WKLB from 99.5 to Classical WCRB's frequency at 102.5 as part of that acquisition. It will then sell WCRB at 99.5 and the Classical format to NASSAU BROADCASTING, according to a story in THE BOSTON GLOBE (6/27).
NASSAU President & CEO LOUIS MERCATANI acknowledged that negotiations are underway to keep WCRB as a Classical outlet. "We believe that there are a few markets in the country that do extremely well with classical, and BOSTON is certainly one of them. You have a unique market, a product that is a niche format so it doesn't have any competition, and you have a marketplace that wants the format to stay."
