Former WTOP/WASHINGTON, D.C. News Director ED TOBIAS, who has been with the AP the past 30 years, is retiring TODAY. TOBIAS has covered more than 15 space shuttle launches, the 1984, 1988 and 1992, 1996 and 2000 political conventions and campaigns, and Soviet-American summits in REYKJAVIK, ICELAND; VALLETTA, MALTA; MOSCOW, VANCOUVER and WASHINGTON, D.C. He has ran the BROADCAST NEWS CENTER's news desk and served as a reporter and news anchor.
