It looks like APPLE found another entity to put a small "i" before it. After integrating iPOD, IPHONE, and iPAD into the universal lexicon, CNET is now reporting that APPLE is working on an iWATCH. A BUSINESS INSIDER report claims that APPLE has partnered with INTEL to develop an iOS watch; supply chain sources reportedly told Chinese blog site TECH163.COM that the watch would be BLUETOOTH-enabled and sport a 1.5-inch OLED screen.
Estimated date of "birth:" Sometime in the first half of next year.
Even though the notion of an iWATCH is still in the speculation/rumor phase, others wouldn't put it past APPLE to come up with such a gadget. PIPER JAFFRAY analyst GENE MUNSTER saying APPLE "might eventually" get into a line of "wearable" computers. What's more, THE NEXT WEB cites a KICKSTARTER campaign that has raised more than $10 million from backers convinced of the demand for a smartwatch.
Actually, the iPOD Nano already has a watch feature -- and it's an appropriate size. Different manufacturers sell watchbands that enable you to wear the Nano on your wrist. Aside from displaying the time, the Nano can play music, display photos, and keep track of your fitness history.
Even though APPLE increased the size of the 2012 Nano, it still could conceivably create a true smartwatch to be the next technology frontier.
