Former Ole Miss Voice Stan Torgerson Passes Away

Condolences to family and friends of former OLE MISS radio sports announcer STAN TORGERSON, who died MONDAY from complications of pneumonia in MERIDIAN, MS at 82. 

TORGERSON was the voice of the REBELS for three separate terms, in 1955-57, 1968-72, and 1978-85, calling 176 football games and 462 basketball games for the school. He also owned WQIC/MERIDIAN, MS from 1968 through 1990, called MEMPHIS STATE sports for WHBQ-A/MEMPHIS in 1954-55, and managed WQAM-A/MIAMI, KCBQ-A/SAN DIEGO, and WMC-A/MEMPHIS, and most recently served as a reporter and show host for WTOK-TV/MERIDIAN, MS.
