Sirius Adds Variety To LA Channel

SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO and VARIETY will join forces to create VARIETY RADIO NEWS, which will provide show business reports to SIRIUS' LOS ANGELES traffic and weather channel several times an hour every day beginning this FALL. The radio news bureau will be based at the trade magazine's LOS ANGELES offices. 

The addition is the first break from the continuous traffic-and-weather format of the locally-targeted channels, a point of contention with terrestrial broadcasters and the NAB, which have opposed use of satellite channels for local content.
